Description

Founded in 1788, and therefore one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country, The Royal Masonic School for Girls (RMS) has long been associated with the very best of girls’ education, inside and outside the classroom, academically and pastorally. The individual child is at the heart of all that we do.

RMS girls are each distinctive and talented individuals. We know our pupils extremely well, and we learn best how to support each of them, how best to challenge them, and how to develop their specific talents, interests, and potential. Central to our vision is the preparation of RMS girls for life in the world beyond School, a world in which they will require resilience, adaptability, and the best academic qualifications of which they are capable.

Families choose RMS because we place great emphasis on a healthy learning culture and outstanding pastoral care rather than on competitiveness and pressure; our students are encouraged to focus on the process of developing as learners both inside and outside the classroom rather than purely on results, and as a result, they achieve highly (in 2017 48% of A Level grades and 52% of GCSE grades were A* or A, and almost 90% of our leavers gained a place at one of their top choice universities). Students of all ages, from our youngest students in Ruspini House Pre School, through Pre Prep, Prep Senior and Sixth Form, are privileged to be taught by dedicated, talented teachers who uncover each and every girl’s talents, inspire her and give her the courage to challenge herself in everything she does.

An RMS education extends far beyond the classroom and our extra-curricular options are broad, with each girl able to find her niche and thrive. Twenty first century boarding at RMS provides the support of a family to fulltime and flexi-boarders, and the integration between day girls and boarders is something that we pride ourselves on.

We are extremely fortunate in our location and superb facilities;  set in over two hundred acres of the most beautiful parkland, we are just a stone’s throw from the Metropolitan Line at Rickmansworth, and from there just a 30 minute journey into Central London.
