Description

Roedean is the place to nurture talents, spark curiosity, develop skills, and let the imagination run riot. This is because we believe that education is about far more than just exam results. Roedean provides an all‐round, distinctively academic education within a caring and friendly community, where girls do achieve outstanding academic grades, but also pursue passions and challenge themselves to try new things.

Roedean offers day and boarding for girls aged 11 to 18 within an inspiring location on the South Coast that includes 110 acres, a farm, and breath‐taking sea views. We are close enough to Brighton to take advantage of this cultural and dynamic city, but far enough away to enjoy the beauty of our unique cliff‐top location, at the foot of the South Down National Park. Just 30 minutes from Gatwick, Roedean also offers the ‘Victoria Escort’ where weekly boarders are chaperoned between Brighton Station and London Victoria by members of staff on Friday and Sunday evenings.

All girls develop a love for learning at Roedean and are encouraged at all stages to pursue intellectual challenge and their own interests. Outstanding examination results (56% A*‐A grades at A level and 74% Grades 9-7 at GCSE in 2023) are evidence of the resilience, curiosity and confidence fostered by Roedean’s approach to academics. STEM is a key strength, with approximately 1/3 of Year 13 each year going on to study STEM subjects at university, and with mathematics being the most popular subject at A level.

From those learning new games to elite sportswomen, Roedean offers 14 different sports, with girls representing Roedean in over 800 fixtures across the board. The school delights in the girls’ Performing Arts successes on stage in our 350‐seat professional theatre, including Six, Les Misérables and Mary Poppins, with further opportunities to perform in concerts, recitals, and dance showcases every term.

Roedean offers a truly inspirational setting for girls to inhabit as they grow up, where opportunities are endless. It is this holistic educational journey that develops independent and creative young women, ready to embrace the world.
